We have just finished a morning of team building games with local high school students. The bikes we built will be donated to the local high school for their use. Students are now doing a final pack up and check out before lunch and a visit to the pottery and lantern factory. We look forward to seeing you late in Singapore tonight! "Singing karaoke with everyone after dinner" "Catching many fish when we went fishing" Day 4 Challenges: "It rained for most of the time we were in the village; it was difficult to paint on damp/wet surfaces" "Being a risk taker and joining a song for karaoke!" Tomorrow: We've had a great time but we look forward to returning to Singapore late tomorrow evening. We'll have a day of teambuilding games and a visit to the pottery village and lantern factory. Day 3 Challenges: "Overcoming my fear of heights to complete the abseiling" "Some of the tasks on the scavenger hunt were very difficult to complete and find!" Tomorrow We look forward to revisiting Dong Binh village to complete our community service work there; we will build a toilet, paint houses and visit the local elementary school (where we have been able to buy raincoats for students in light of the upcoming rainy season, thanks to our excellent work at the Fundraising Fair). We will also try the village fishing technique before enjoying a traditional musical performance in Hoi An - our final evening of WWW! Day 2 Highlights:
"Planting trees in the village" "Playing card games at lunch and free times" "Seeing the lanterns light up the streets of Hoi An at night" Day 2 Challenges: "The weather! It was really hard to plan trees in the rain" "Weaving - the villagers made it look so easy, but it was really difficult!" Tomorrow: We look forward to being risk takers by exploring and abseiling at Marble Mountain, followed by a scavenger hunt around old Hoi An. We have arrived safely in Hoi An and students are getting into bed after a long day of travel! Everything has gone very smoothly so far, and we were greeted by our Vietnamese guides for the week upon arrival. We took a 40 minute bus ride from Danang to Hoi An and had a late dinner at the hotel. We are looking forward to visiting the village of Dong Binh tomorrow to see our fundraising money be put into action; we will be planting fruit trees in the morning and learning how to make straw mats in the afternoon !
WWW is coming up and students have been working hard to research our destination as well as raise funds to plant trees and build a toilet in the village.
