A jungle walk allowed students to observe plant and animal life, and discuss soil health of a natural forest. They then compared this with what they saw at the oil palm plantation yesterday.
Our students had an action packed day. In the morning they put scientific data collection methods into practice in an oil palm plantation. In the afternoon the low ropes course provides opportunities for students and staff to push their physical abilities to the test with a clear reminder of how relaxation, the outdoors and laughter can all help with mindfulness. Just in time to put the weeks learning to the test with a team building quiz that lead nicely into an evening ethical debate about prominent and current environmental issues. Topped off by birthday celebrations for Mr Russell around a bonfire.
Students visited a refugee camp and worked at the local school today.
Grade 10 have travelled well to Malaysia. One half the group have arrived safely in the rainforest. The other half are visiting a farm.
